BJNZBM/COL/300908/04 -- A Senior Occupational Therapist, preferably with experience in Mental Health, is sought to work in the community and support service users to enable them to experience productive lives in their community. Current Service users have learning disabilities, physical disabilities, aspergers syndrome and/or mental health difficulties.
Responsibilities:
• To provide the Occupational Therapy Service within Community Mental Health and to manage the service in collaboration with other members of the Multidisciplinary Team and the Occupational Therapist Manager.
• To access and plan treatment programmes for clients referred to the Occupational Therapy Service and to be responsible for the design, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of such programmes, which may be carried out by the Occupational Therapist or in conjunction with other staff.
• To review and evaluate the Occupational Therapy services regularly, to identify, to respond to and to make recommendations for future developments.
• To participate in a multi-disciplinary team, communicating with and working in co-operation with other disciplines.
• To record and report on treatment and ensure client confidentiality.
• To adhere to all policies, procedures and guidelines and legislation as required by the Occupational Therapy Service.
• To make visits as appropriate to home, work, educational, treatment, social and recreational environments.
• To ensure that Occupational Therapy standards are maintained in accordance with recognised standards of practice and Code of Ethics.
• To liaise with other disciplines and agencies as appropriate.
• To participate in regular supervision and individual performance appraisal.
• To direct and supervise Staff Grade Occupational Therapists, support staff and Occupational Therapy students.
• To liaise with other disciplines and agencies as appropriate.
• To ensure the safety of self and others and the maintenance of the environments and equipment used in the workplace in accordance with the Health and Safety Act, 1989 and local policies and procedures.
• To take records as necessary and provide statistical information as required.
• Education and Training.
• To take part as required in the teaching/training of staff and students of own and other disciplines.
• To monitor and keep up to date with developments in Occupational Therapy and all relevant matters, to attend senior meetings, training courses and to be involved in research.
• Any duties as deemed necessary by the Occupational Therapist Manager.
Requirements:
• Primary Qualification in Occupational Therapy.
• Ideally at least 3 years postgraduate experience.
• Experience with Mental Health would be a distinct advantage.
